New product launches at 2017 Philly Bike Expo

Several companies, including some frame builders, are using November's Philly Bike Expo as a venue to introduce new products to dealers and consumers

More companies than ever are using the Philly Bike Expo, which takes place the first weekend in November each year, as the venue to introduce new products to both dealers and consumers. Many of these companies include smaller component and accessory makers, and custom framebuilders we feature here at HBG. Here a few highlights from the handbuilt industry:

Here are just a few of the new products being unveiled at the 2017 Philly Bike Expo:

Rolf Prima will be displaying their new 2018 wheelsets, including the Black Rock mountain bike wheelset, and the new Ares3 / Ares3 ES Disc and Ares6 Disc road models.

Mel Pinto Imports will be introducing VAR’s new professional Hub Bearing Press kit, and will be demonstrating this new shop-quality tool in their booth at the show.

No. 22 Bicycle Company will be displaying its new Aurora model.

Ortlieb USA will be showing its new line-up of PVC-free bags called The Free Line.

Paragon Machine Works will introduce new inserts for Rockers and Sliders, new hangers for their existing dropouts, and at least one new dropout design.

ROTOR Bike Components will be launching three new products: the RVolver hub system, Aldhu modular cranks, and the MTB 2INpower dual-sided power meter.

New for 2018, White Industries introduces their precision CNC headset, which incorporates double sealed stainless steel bearings that can be easily removed for maintenance.

Thomson will display its newest products, set to enter production in spring 2018, including a new dropper seatpost and 35mm stems and bars.

Also of note to HBG readers is a vintage bike concours being organized by Richard Schwinn, of the famous American bicycle brand family and now behind Waterford Precision Cycles, taking place at the Philly Bike Expo in booths 2007-2011 at Exhibit Hall E. No requirements for bicycle entries have been specified, but "vintage" typically indicates an age of 25 years or older. Schwinn himself will be leading a seminar on the history of the Schwinn Paramount on Sunday, November 5th at 10:30 a.m. in Room 124.
